However, there are social problems that plague the country and mitigate development. There has been conflict between the different ethnic groups over superiority. This portrays the high level of poverty. Many people are practically living from hand to mouth.
From the leaders to the followers, the majority have their hands deep in corruption. This causes conflict and enmity which can lead to the destruction of lives and property. Many people have been displaced from their homes because of this.
A lot of children die of malnutrition, diseases, and the likes. Their parents cannot afford to provide the necessary nutrition and health care.
The hope of getting a job after graduation for the average Nigerian graduate becomes dimmer by the day. The standard of education has really dropped. This causes social problems as an average Nigerian graduate cannot compete favourably with his counterparts in other parts of the world.
Violence against women and children is on the rise. Men take advantage of their weaknesses to perpetrate evil.
Victims of domestic violence live a traumatized life. As bad as it is, there are solutions available to solve these problems. The availability of jobs would reduce the rate of poverty in the country.
